 The Home Builders Association of Southeast Texas is a professional non-profit trade association with members of the construction and remodeling industry. We represent: contractors, suppliers, lenders, utilities and others whose primary interest is the promotion, protection and improvement of the building industry. Chartered in 1963, the HBASET was developed to help builders and associates involved in construction to better face their challenges through unified action. Our association represents: Hardin, Jasper, Jefferson, Newton, Orange, Sabine and San Augustine Counties.  


The HBASET actively monitors the local, state, and national legislative and regulatory changes that affect the residential construction industry. The HBA staff, working with Texas Association of Builders (TAB) and the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) is committed to protecting your business interests and keeping you informed.


Our Mission: To promote the American Dream through an alliance of professional builders and vendors serving the Southeast Texas community by working to ensure the quality and affordability of housing today and for future generations.

Hope Cherie Hilz

Executive Officer

Hope Hilz is responsible for the overall administration and operations of the association, and is the staff liaison to the Board of Directors. Hope prepares and monitors the operational budget, corporate minutes, and member correspondence. Additionally, she provides support to all committees. She works hard at establishing and maintaining positive relationships with legislators and their staff and serves as a contact point for the state and national organizations. Hope is also responsible for all social and meeting events of the association. She oversees speaker/meeting contracts and confirmations. Hope serves as editor of the monthly newsletter and manages advertising. She assists with writing and desktop design projects and oversees website operations.

Michelle Guidry

Executive Assistant

Michelle Guidry manages event calendars, organizes meetings, welcomes visitors, accepts phone calls, handles clerical tasks, prioritizes member correspondence and works closely with the Executive Officer and Board of Directors. Additionally, she handles maintaining membership data and handling the needs of the membership overall.
